Judges 1:28-29
Whenever we fail to complete a job it creates ill-will from those we are serving. It also violates a basic biblical mandate for every believer to do their work with excellence. The Bible says that Daniel and his friends did their work ten times better than anyone else. They were known for their excellence.

It is often said of football that the hardest place to score from is the one yard line. That is because the defenses are greatest where there is the most resistance. Sometimes completing a job is like this.

Whenever you have a project to do make sure you complete the job fully. Go the extra distance to make sure your boss or your client is totally satisfied with your work. You may complete 95% of your work, but if it is not completed you will be known for what you did not finish, rather than for what you did finish.

God gave Satan permission to put Job through a trial of adversity. Job's herds were stolen, his servants were murdered, and all of Job's children were killed by a sudden tornado.

Through his trial of adversity, he grows in strength, wisdom and faith. His entire perspective on God is transformed by his suffering. He was even accused of sin by his closest friends

Genesis 19:26
In our life God is always calling us forward, always stretching our faith, and as long as we are alive we are not finished. We start out with a revelation, it gets us moving, and when we stop moving we become a monument. God is full of surprises and to think that He is predictable is a mistake. I know He said I change not and He does not, but the fact is that no one walked on water, until someone did. No one raised the dead until someone did.

Stay stretchable today and allow God to do something new in your life. Do not write off everything new that comes your way as not of God. Keep looking forward and not behind you. Do not stop listening to God and become a monument

2Tim1:7Fear is a natural response to obstacles, adversity/failure,but peace is the supernatural response that God gives us by His grace.Just as Jesus had authority over the wind and waves,He has authority over the storms in our lives. He has authority over our doubts, fears and shame. The peace of God shatters the weapons of satan and sends our enemy fleeing.Lay hold of the peace God has already provided for you today.

Mathew 16:19 THE KEY
Each one of use is like a key. Every key is different, no key is the same. Each one is made to unlock a different lock, a special kind of lock, to a door that no one else can open. Because God has made us all different, God has fashioned us as keys - keys to unlock the doors leading to other people's lives. Have you ever had a close friend you felt understood you completely? Have you ever had someone in your life who helped you walk through a difficult time, because they had been there themselves?

We are created to open doors to cities, to communities, to nations - and to people who are the gatekeepers of those places. What door has God fashioned you for?

Carolyn Osburn

Esther 4:14
Many times when God calls us to do something, we start making excuses much like that. “I am not ready yet. I am already too busy! There is so much I need to do. I need to get my life straightened out first, then I will do it. I really do not have the time. My life is a mess! I am not good enough. I am not smart enough for that!” On and on we go.

When you feel God tugging on your heart, do not wait. Do it then. He will cause you to have all that you have need of, and when He is with you, who can stand against you? Do not try and “put your house in order” first because the enemy will see that it does not happen. When you start walking with God, that is when your life will come back together. When God comes calling, do not make Him wait.

AMEN! I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. "Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. If you forgive anyone's sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven." I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. "To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.

Psalm 90:17

If you are a Christian, you are in full-time Christian work, whether you are driving nails or preaching the gospel. The question must be, are you achieving the God-given calling for your life? God has called people into business to fulfill His purposes just as much as He has called people to be pastors or missionaries.

Significance comes from fulfilling the God-given purpose for which you were made. Ask Him to confirm this in your own life

Because the world is always moving, we need to be intentional about moving forward, so that we won't miss what God is wanting to do in our lives. Faith requires movement, action. Sometimes our action is waiting. But, there is always action.

Are you moving forward in your life? Are you making the moments count? There is so much that could be done on this earth for the good of God's kingdom. What has God called you to?

I Chronicles 15:12-13

Unfortunately, there is one simple thing that can keep us from the success others have experienced - we fail to follow directions. (This is especially true of those called to leadership - we are often strong-willed!) But, in order to gain success in any area of life, it requires following directions from someone more experienced than us. We need to get over our rebellion (yikes!) and do the thing or things advised.

Uzzah the Levite reached out to steady the Ark of the Covenant in transport, even though he was instructed not to touch it. Although he did what he thought was the right thing, because he did not follow directions, he dropped dead!

Can you think of any areas of your life where you've been given direction, but you need to follow it? Pray and ask God to give you the grace to follow those directions, and see your life begin to change for the better.

2 Corinthians 12:9

Have you ever not pursued something because it had to be perfect? There is a fine line between doing things with excellence and being a perfectionist. Perfectionists become argumentative with God. They refuse to step out in faith and obedience because they care too much about what others think if the results don't turn out perfectly.

When God places His anointing on you He uses whatever level of skill you have to fulfill His purposes in your life. This is why you need not fear moving into an unfamiliar area if He calls you there.

What is God waiting for you to do? It may be time to step out. He specializes in "cliff-catching."

Revelations 12:10-11

When you hear any voice in your ear ask "Who said that?" use the filter of the Holy Spirit to discern who is speaking to you. For instance, God would never say to you, "I do not love you. Or, your life is a failure, or you will never amount to anything." He would never communicate words of shame to you. You were made in the image of God.

Respond to the accuser with the audible Word of God, just as Jesus did when He was tempted. He told Satan the truth by the BOOK! James tells us to "resist the devil and he will flee from you." This requires action on your part to respond to the voice we hear.

Mark 2:22

As we develop our gifts and calling in God, we need increased capacity so He can rule and reign even more in our lives. Often the old ways of thinking won't do for where we're headed, and we need a new way of thinking in order to keep us on track. (New wine skins.) God is never stagnant. Although His character remains the same, walking with Him requires us to change, so that we can be continuously renewed. Our minds, souls, and spirits have to "stretch" to allow the presence and indwelling of the Holy Spirit to rule them, as we allow Him to increase our capacity. Growth hurts sometimes, as does change. But these are two necessary pieces if we are going to move forward into God's plans for our lives.

Are there areas where God is trying to increase your capacity; for love, for faith, for grace? Be open to the challenge. You never know what will come of it as a result.

I also thought that refabricating my missing log pages for the first six months of last year would be good and then I could do last yrs taxes !! So ,,I looked all over my truck for a note book that had those loads in it !! I couldn't find it and realizing I took it off my truck at home in a duffle bag !!! Oh no,,,, I thought !! Well ,,,, that's why I gave you this local job so you can continue your fast without falling a sleep !!" I said "Wow ,,,, Lord it's a lot of work and it will be hard but your right I won't fall a sleep !!! Ok,, Lord I will do 7 days just drinking water and you as my strength !!!" I ended my fast this morning with some soup thanking Jesus !!:)) Now to see what else God has !!!:))) Sweet !!!!! Ok that's my testimony !! Have a great day !! Exodus 32:4
Today we see such mixture in the body of Christ. We promote guaranteed prosperity without the cross. We call adversity a sign of a lack of faith. We promote New Age philosophies mixed with the scriptures and call it a new freedom in Christ. This is only mixture. It is an abomination to the Lord.

And because Aaron has mixture in his own life, he was unable to be truthful to Moses when confronted with his actions. "He said to Aaron, 'What did these people do to you, that you led them into such great sin?' So I told them, 'Whoever has any gold jewelry, take it off.' Then they gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!'" (Ex 32:21-24).

Did you notice Aaron's explanation? Out came this calf! - all by itself. Aaron attempted to deceive Moses. Aaron failed to fulfill his role as a strong, Godly leader. He allowed "mixture" to have power over the people of God.

Pray that you will be faithful to the Word of God and not allow new philosophies to distort its ageless truths.

Nehemiah 4:17-18
The story of Nehemiah is a great example of how life often is. Often we are stepping out in faith, fighting for our promise, and earning a living to take care of our families, using wisdom. Sometimes we are going to school at the same time we are working. Sometimes we are working on our dream at the same time we are working at our "job." As a business owner, you have to go out and build your business at the same time you are doing the day to day activities to keep it running. In sports, not only do you have to play offense, you have to learn how to play defense too. Paul saw himself and others in a parallel battle as Christians:

"We faithfully preach the truth. God's power is working in us. We use the weapons of righteousness in the right hand for attack and the left hand for defense." -2 Corinthians 6:7

Has God called you to build and fight? Ask Him for the grace and strength to do both if you find yourself in such a season today.

Just now

Martha was Mary's older sister. Older sisters always think they know best. They tend to mother the younger siblings. So when Jesus came over to spend an evening at their home Martha wanted to prepare a special meal. She noticed Mary was spending all her time in the living room listening to Jesus. Martha finally felt compelled to appeal to Jesus about the situation.

"But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, 'Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!' 'Martha, Martha,' the Lord answered, 'you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her'" (Luke 10:40-42).

Jesus reveals a danger in this story that each of us must be aware of. When our concern for serving Jesus exceeds our need to be with Jesus, we are in danger of focusing on the lesser thing. The hardest thing to do for most workplace believers is to sit and listen. It is easier to do.

Today, begin to spend more time listening before you begin doing.

Carolyn Osburn

Exodus 2:22

Like Joseph and Abraham, Moses had to endure some difficult years of preparation that first involved removal from his current situation. He went from notoriety to obscurity, from limitless resources to no resources, from activity and action to inactivity and solitude. And, most importantly, waiting. And waiting. And waiting. He probably thought he would die in the land of Midian.

Then one day, a full 40 years from the day he arrived, God appeared to Moses in a burning bush. Everything changed. God said, "It is time." The years had seasoned the vessel to prepare him to accomplish the work.

God is preparing many believers today. The circumstances may be different. The time frames may not be quite as long. But the characteristics of the training are still the same. Do not try to shortcut the desert time of God. It only leads to cul-de-sacs, which force you to revisit the lessons you are meant to learn. Embrace them, so that He can use your life for something extraordinary.

I Corinthians 10:31

Our Lord never saw the mundane activities as ordinary. Whether He healed the sick or sat around the fire with the disciples, He did not see one activity as spiritual and the other non-spiritual. Life was lived as a holy service to His Heavenly Father.

Many times we fall prey to a spiritual hierarchy mentality. We believe certain activity is more blessed by God because it is done under a spiritual guise. We conduct our Christian meetings and conclude one is blessed by God based on attendance. We work to give money to ministry when we fail to recognize the very work we do is ministry.

God's glory can be expressed in the most common task. Whether washing the dishes or changing diapers or driving to the grocery store. When we begin to assign spiritual value to activities we begin to give greater importance to those activities we deem spiritually higher in the hierarchy.

Carolyn Osburn

Romans 12:2

How we spend our time and what we listen to affects our lives, whether we realize it or not. It may not be apparent immediately, but we may notice ourselves saying more negative things after watching a news broadcast, or being more edgy than normal after watching a certain TV show. The type of people we hang around are likely the type of people we will be.

Much like diet and health, (we are what we eat), what we pay attention to will likely affect us, in a positive or negative way. That's why it's essential we create for ourselves good habits, for a good spiritual diet. When we cloud our minds with negativity, we close ourselves off to possibility. The "can'ts" outnumber the "how's" when we let outside forces do our thinking for us. We need to be intentional about what we allow into our lives daily. These things, no matter how small they may seem, can affect us for the long haul.

Who, or what, do you want influencing you? Do you want the media, news and stock reports, and reality TV influencing your life? Or, would you rather the Bible, good teaching, worship and education to improve your skills influencing you?

What are you feeding yourself daily?

Carolyn Osburn

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it(1 Cor 10:13).

If we persevere we often realize later the place of our greatest battle becomes the place of our greatest victory. It would be here, on the Mount of Olives, near the Garden Gethsemane where Jesus ascended and would return triumphantly, not as a sorrowful soul, but a triumphant Savior. The battle He won in Gethsemane would result in the triumphant entry to be Lord of the universe.

God will use your greatest failure or greatest sorrow to be a powerful force in your life and the lives of others. Your Valley of Baca (weeping) becomes springs for you and others. You will go from strength to strength (Ps 84:6). It is in the dying that the new springs are allowed to come forth and a new strength emerges.

If you find yourself in your Garden of Gethsemane, lay yourself at the feet of the only one who can sustain you. Entrust yourself to your Heavenly Father. Let Him determine your fate. It will ultimately become a place of victory

James 1:2-3

Silver Linings

I doubt many of us that are in or have been in difficult circumstances could call them a blessing. It has taken a lot of time, a lot of healing, and a lot of restoration, but it was so worth the cost. The joy of knowing Christ and experiencing His peace, love and joy in spite of circumstances is better than any diamond, ruby or emerald on this earth, or any comfort we might enjoy. If you've never been through adversity, you'll never know how valuable it is to be without it. And, you'll never know the blessing of the depth of God experiences we need in order to get us through those tough times.

Someone once told me, "God must love you a lot. He does not allow such difficult experiences into a life that He does not plan to use greatly."

Carolyn Osburn

James 1:9

God reveals things in the dark places of circumstances that will be used to reveal something He wants you and others to know. He has sent you ahead to learn these things so that you and others will benefit from your unique experience. God views this place where you receive these truths as a high position. The world views it as a place to be despised.

"He called down a famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food; and he sent a man before them - Joseph, sold as a slave. They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons, till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the Lord proved him true" (Psalms 105:16-19). Joseph was also led to this high position. It was here he was prepared to be the most powerful man in the world as a thirty-year old. He learned many things about God during his captivity that was used later as a ruler over a nation.

So, if you find yourself in a lowly state, realize your lowly state is considered a high position by God that is preparation soil for revealing deep things from the dark places that God desires you to learn.

Carolyn Osburn

Psalm 81:13

God has a specific training ground for leaders. There are three patterns of preparation that have been common among most of God's leaders. First, there is a time when the leader is separated from his old life. Consider Moses, Joseph, Abraham, and Paul. In order for God to mold and shape them into His nature, it appears that He had to remove them from the life of comfort. A teacher once said, "You cannot go with God and remain where you are."

Next, there is usually a time of solitude. God often brings leaders into a time of solitude in order to speak to them without other distractions. Hosea 2:14b says, "I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her." Paul was sent to Arabia for two years for a time of solitude. Joseph spent years in the solitude of prison. Moses spent 40 years in the desert herding sheep.

The third characteristic of God's preparation for leaders is discomfort. The setting in which the preparation takes place usually is not a place of comfort. Abraham traveled through the difficult deserts. David lived in caves fleeing Saul. Paul was frequently persecuted.

If you feel the nudge to lead and you review the training God uses to qualify His chosen-pray to be able to stand the purification as you pass through the fire.

Carolyn Osburn

Psalm 81:13

Are you ready for the classroom of leadership preparation? If God chooses to bring you into this class, you may have one of three reactions to the events. First, you may say, "I don't need it." Perhaps you know intellectually that you do need this, but God wants you to know it in your heart. Pride prevents us from entering this classroom. The second reaction may be, "I'm tired of it." You decide you've had enough. If so, this will disqualify you from leadership. Finally, God's desired response from us in this preparation is, "I accept it." To accept it with joy is the place of maturity in Christ. God often keeps us in these places until we come to accept and agree that Jesus is enough. Is He all you need?

Like the people of Israel, I think we have something to do with the timetable of our education. "If My people would but listen to Me, if Israel would follow My ways, how quickly would I subdue their enemies and turn My hand against their foes!" (Ps. 81:13-14)

Are you ready for the process required for being a godly leader? Ask for His grace to willingly embrace these times of preparation

Carolyn Osburn

God's love comes first. The reason He is everything else He is, is because of His love. Jesus is the ultimate expression and personality of God on the earth, because He, too, was God.

Have you experienced God's true nature and His unending love for you today? How have you seen God show up in your life? Why not get to know Him better. He wants to hang out with each of us and help us, in every area of our lives

Numbers 12:9

Miriam and Aaron, the older brother and sister of Moses, had a family dispute about Moses' wife.
However, the family conflict began to impact God's agenda for a nation. They were now meddling in God's business. And He did not like that in the least. God literally brought Aaron and Miriam into the switching house. He judged both Miriam and Aaron for their rebellion against His ordained leader. "Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?" (Num 12:8).

Miriam was stricken with leprosy and had it not been for Moses' appeal on her behalf, she would have been cast out for good. God gave her a second chance but it required being cast away from the camp for seven days. Miriam and Aaron repented for their rebellion.

If you struggle with a leader that God has over you, pray for that leader. If God wants to remove that leader, He can do it. Think twice about conspiring to remove a leader whom God has not chosen to remove yet.

Numbers 12:9

Beware of trying to depose a leader that God has raised in your midst. Leaders are placed by God in business, government, churches - almost every place where leaders are required. When God places a person in position of authority, it is a grievous sin to go against that leadership. God Himself opposes those who come against His leadership.

God's leaders are not perfect. They make mistakes. That is why following a leader can require a faith that goes beyond faith in the leader. Our faith lies in the God who elevated the leader to his or her position.

Isaiah 40:4-5

Under Re-Construction

Sometimes God takes us through our own life re-construction project. Our lives get disrupted, we can no longer depend on the things we did before, and we don't have control over our circumstances or timetable. God is doing major construction.

However, even in the midst of the re-construction the glory of the Lord is revealed in that place. For some, it is the first time they've ever seen the hand of the Lord in their life to the degree that this process allows them to experience Him. It is a process they would never choose to go through voluntarily, but it is an experience they value for the rest of their lives because the glory of the Lord was revealed in the process.

Once the process is complete, things begin to flow better. Just as the new roads allow you to drive on a smooth, more spacious area, so too God paves a way for you to move into an expanded place with Him. Isaiah tells us: "He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows" (Isa 30:23-24).

Be patient with God's re-construction project. You will like the finished project.

Psalm 146:6

Hang on to God. The things that the Lord has promised you in your heart will come to pass. When you fall, get up and try it again. God understands, He loves you and He has a plan for your life. Don’t throw in the towel yet and don’t give up on Him. Though you cannot see it coming and have almost forgotten, it will still arrive at the proper time. He will faithfully complete the work that He has begun in you.

Colossians 3:3

In life, there is a great temptation to go for the next big thing: the next big business, the next big degree, the next big job opportunity. But in the kingdom, things are different. God works quite differently than we do, His ways are higher than our ways. (Is 55:9) Sometimes the thing that looks the best may not be the best for us - the best that God has in mind.

Sometimes we can get stuck seeking provision first, instead of seeking our Provider. Sometimes we can get stuck seeking out approval or affirmation from people, instead of going to God first and experiencing His love. Other times we'll see our value in our accomplishments, instead of seeing that God created us with value, before we ever did anything to deserve it. Our value is built upon His love for us.

We can so easily sell out and miss our purpose by seeking other things before God's will in our lives. What is He doing? What is He saying? Jesus said He only did what He saw the Father doing - nothing more, nothing less. (John 5:19)

I Corinthians 13:11

God can heal us of any kind of wound we may have experienced during our growing up years. "Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard." Isaiah 58:8

Can you see any areas where you might be arrested in your emotions? Can you see where others might have had some wounds in their past? Pray and ask God to help to heal you in these areas, and that you also might be a healing force in the life of someone else. Our heavenly Father desires that we be healed of any lie from the enemy, so that we can grow strong in our faith and know His love, be free from our wounds, and come to full maturity in Him. His love never fails. (1 Cor 13:8)

Dan1:19-21God may put us into things way over our heads and walk us through deep waters at times.Yet when needed most- He will always be there!God wants to be a part of your life.He wants to help you and push you into deeper things.Yes, it will be scary, yes the water is deep, but when Peter walked on the water,Jesus did not let him sink. This scripture is still relevant today, and if you will trust Him, God will make you ten times better.
